Things to Do in Miami Beach

South Beach Activities & Attractions Information

The hub of Miami Beach is South Beach (SoBe, to anyone but locals), and the hub of South Beach is the Art Deco District. New high-rises and hotels spring up, areas like SoFi ("south of fifth" street) blossom, and clubs open (and close) with dizzying speed. Yet Miami Beach is more than just SoBe. Many people fail to realize that there's more to Miami Beach than the bustle of South Beach and its Deco District. Indeed, there are quieter areas to the north like Sunny Isles Beach, Surfside, and Bal Harbour.

The cultural side of South Beach is a prominent part of what Lincoln Road - Miami Beach has to offer. Once one of the most elegant shopping streets in the country, Lincoln Road was redesigned in the 1960’s by legendary architect Morris Lapidus as America's first pedestrian mall. Now it is envisioned as the center of the new Miami Beach -- a kind of link between South Beach and the mainline attractions, such as the Miami Beach Convention Center (305-673-7311) Calendar of Events, the Jackie Gleason Theater of the Performing Arts (305-673-7300) and the Bass Museum of Art
(305-673-7530) among others.

It goes without saying that Greater Miami and the Beaches is a golfer’s paradise. Manicured greens, ocean breezes, elegant clubhouses and year-round golfing weather are a duffer’s delight. Miami boasts an array of challenging courses, including the TPC Blue Monster Course at Doral Golf Resort and Spa, a 6,701-yard course that has hosted PGA Tour events for more than 40 years. Golf Magazine called it one of the top 100 courses in the world. With courses as impressive as this, it's little wonder that a number of great professional golf tournaments call our city home.
